The Southern Piedmont Woodturners (SPW) club are having their monthly meeting at ClearWater Artist Studios TONIGHT (3/20/18)! Start gathering at 5:30pm and the meeting starts at 7:00. Showcase demonstrators for the evening are listed below.
The club, which is housed in Studio #122 here in the Studios, at the end of the Operations Building nearest Kerr Street, holds these meetings every Third Tuesday evening; and all are welcome - first meeting visit is free for non-members, come see if you're interested in this age-old craft. Come on out and participate in our first Round Robin Woodturning event for 2018. This program will be of interest and benefit to Beginners, Experienced and Professional wood turners. We have some great demonstrations and presentations lined up for the evening as outlined below.
1. Use of Skew Chisel: Jack Reyome
2. Color/mixing acrylics: Fred Connell
3. Natural Edge Bowls: Rick Erickson
4. Finishing Techniques: Vern Cockayne
5. Reciprocating Lathe: Steve Martin
I encourage everyone to bring your questions, ideas and curiosity to this meeting. It promises to be a great one.
SPW members, guests and visitors begin to gather at 5:30pm at the studio for some social and get to know each other time. Please remember to bring your show and tell items. The club can certainly use some donated items for our raffle. Please check your shop for tools, supplies and pieces you don't use or need and donate for the raffle.
Southern Piedmont Woodturners Club is housed inside Clearwater Artist Studio, located at 223 Crowell Drive, NW in Concord at the corner of Kerr and Crowell.
Please introduce yourself if I have not had the opportunity to meet you. For everyone else, please greet each other and enjoy yourself. Along with our program we will have brief important announcements, a show and tell in which turned pieces will be displayed and discussed, a raffle which includes a Turner of the Month piece.
