The North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association in conjunction with ClearWater Artist Studios,

is pleased to present The Art of Injury Prevention and Athletic Training, an Athletic Training and Sports Medicine photographic and illustrated art exhibition displayed at ClearWater Artist Studios in Concord, NC (part of the Charlotte Metro area) with an opening reception Sunday, March 10th, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:-00 PM in our Second gallery/ Lower Level Community Room. The event is free and open to the public. On hand will be the ballerina featured in the photos and the photographer. Regional athletes especially are invited to attend.

-Note - NCATA and ClearWater have extended this exhibit at ClearWater until April 30th, 2019 -

ClearWater Artist Studios, in partnership with the North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association, will open this exhibit of a series of art photographs, commissioned to draw attention to approaches for best practices in preventing sudden death and catastrophic injury in athletics in North Carolina. The idea is to utilize art for a series of educational posters to achieve this goal.

The exhibit will be on view from Feb. 25 through March 29, 2019. It is open to the public, and will celebrate March as National Athletic Training Month. The art will be in the Community Room/ Second Gallery at ClearWater Artist Studios.

Sports, team-based or individual, provide confidence, social skills, self esteem and physical activity; but during a 17 year period (July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2017) there have been 489 catastrophic sport-related deaths documented among high school and college athletes in the United States, captured by the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research. There have been 20 events captured among athletes in North Carolina during the same time period.
