WHERE: ClearWater Artist Studios, Waterworks building: 152 Kerr St. NW, Concord, NC 28025

Papier Maché classes are a great opportunity for students ages 8 to 14, to explore their creative side! They will create a three-dimensional piece of their own design (we will also provide ideas and examples for those needing a little inspiration)!

This class will teach students to work with a special technique in a proprietary, custom blend of pulp papier maché to create one of a kind, original works of art.  Students will learn how to bring their ideas into fruition, while developing confidence using their own two hands!

Classes are fun and positive; and will focus on the student’s own creative inspiration and ideas.   Your child will experience what it is like to create something three-dimensional from start to finish from an idea of their own.

Each artist will mix their own papier maché, and create an armature—the interior support of an artwork—using up-cycled materials. They will then build onto the armature to create a sculpture Finally, they’ll sand and paint their piece for a finished work of art they can be proud of.

Renowned local resident artist, Brandi McKenna will provide hands-on technical expertise, guidance and assistance, on an individual basis as-needed.  Sister Dusti Williams, also an artist, will assist with coaching.

Each student will bring home finished pieces the last week of class. Photos of the students with their finished pieces can be added to ClearWaters' website to advertise the next class!

COST: $160 for 6 week session

$160 Tuition includes 6 weeks of classes, papier maché, tools, sandpaper, paint, aprons, and dust masks.

The only thing each student is required to bring, will be something they may have from home normally thrown in the recycled bin or trash, such as an empty bottle(s) and/or used (washed) tinfoil, as both of these make wonderful armatures!
